On Kerala's beaches, you can bathe in the glory of the sun or bask in the splendour of the sunset. And refresh yourself with a sip of tendour milk-a taste of nature's rejuvenating nectar in God's Own Country. Most of India's finest beaches are in Kerala. For virtually its entire 600 Kilometre, the Kerala coast is lined with sandy beaches rocky promontories and coconut palms.

Each year greater numbers of visitors arrive here in search of the tranquil, palm fingered beaches. There are several beach resorts in Kerala. Many of them are centres of ayurvedic health holidays too.

Kovalam : One of the most picturesque streches of sandy beach in the world. A ravishing tropical beach that has been attracting travellers from the world over with its bewetching, unspoilt beauty..

The dream-like tranquility at Kovalam relieves you of stress and fatigue.Kovalam is perhaps the most famous of beaches where you will experience the bliss of solitude.Kovalam consists of three adjacent crescent beaches.The southern most,known as the light house beach,is the most popular.Accessibility:16 km from Tvm.

Varkala : Varkala is a sea side resort and spa, as well as an important Hindu centre of pilgrimage.This important pilgrim centre is soon catching on as a popular bech destination.
The uniqe cliff tops provide a sweeping view of the fantastic seascape below. The 2000 year old Sree Janardhana Swamy Temple and the nature care centre are the two main attractions here.

Shanghumugham : This is a favourite haunt of sunset watchers. The beach is ajdacent to the Trivandrum airport and Veli tourist village.

Thangasseri : This is a village of historic importance as the rouins of an old portuguese fort and churches built in the 18th centuary.
Accessibility: 5 km from Quilon (Kollam).

Marari : Marari is a great option for those seeking quietride and pristine environment set in an unspoilt rustic ambiance. The virgin beach is clean with its white sand shimmering in the intense tropical sun. The gently sloping beach framed by lush cocunut groves is perfect for swimming and aquasports.

Fort Kochi : Fort kochi, the most historic part of the city which rests along the Arabian sea is a delightful blend of British, Portuguese, and Dutch influences. An obscure fishing village that became the first european township in India.

Fort Kochi has an eventful and colorful history. The town was shaped by the portuguese, the Dutch and later the British. The result of these cultural interphases are seen in the remains of the Indo-European architecture here. Accessibility: 12 km from Eranakulam city.

Cherai : The lovely sands of isolated Cherai lies 25 kilometers north of Vypeen, an island suburb of Kochi. Cherai has nothing more to offer than an exotic scenery. A typical Kerala village with paddy fields and cocunut groves nearby is an added attractions. While beach shacks temptingly invite you to grills, frys and curries or to a refreshing bottle of toddy, the beach by itself is a treasure trove for souvenir hunters studded with seashells in all intriguing shapes, colours and sizes.
There is a range of temptingly simple pleasanturies on offer beffeting a true nature lover on the look out for the primitive, more challenging, and quiter side of nature tourism.

Nattika : The beauty of this beach was captured at its best in celluloid in the legendery Malayalam film 'Chemmeen'. The beach offers a new defenition and dimention to the word 'Relax' offering ample privacy, rejuvenating massages, beach games and opportunities to bask under thatched sunshades.

Kappadu :This is the historic beach where Vasco da Gama landed on 27th of May 1498.With plenty of sun and sea, a lavish dash of history and a delicious sprinkling of ayurveda, Kappadu is quiet an irresistable fair for the beach lovers.Accessibility:14 km from kozhicode.
Baypore : Ancient Baypore was much sought after by merchent from Western Asia, for its ship building industry.

Muzhupilangad : Black rocks protect this long , clean beach from the currents of the deep, making its shallow water aswimmers paradise. Perhaps this is the Kerala's only drive in beach where you can drive the entire length of 4 km. Accessibility: 15 km from Kannur.

Ezhimala : This beatiful beach has a hillock nearby. A naval academy is being developed here.

Bakel : Bakel fort stands on a promontory between two long, classicaly beautiful palm fringed beaches. This is the largest best preserved fort in Kerala.The fort has been under the control of various powers including the Vijaya Nagar Kingdom,Tippu Sulthan and the British.
The forts commanding position offers breathtaking views across the bays of the north and the south.
