Mammootty, the true Marxist in real life is playing a role close to his heart - a Bus Conductor produced by Vaisakh Movies and directed by V.M.Vinu who has given sentimental hits like Balettan and Vesham .

In the film, Mammootty plays Zakir Hussain or Kunjakka an ordinary bus conductor in one of those many private buses plying in Malabar area. It is after five years ( Dada Saheb ) that Mammootty is playing a Muslim character and that too from Mallapuram district.

Producer Rajan had in fact put an ad asking for real life drivers and bus conductors to take part in the shooting. Writer T.A.Razak met some of them and got anecdotes of their day-to-day life in a bus and incorporated them in the script.

The story of Bus Conductor is about the life and times of Kunjakka and the world of private bus employees like cleaners, drivers , conductors and petty owners of the bus, corrupt RTO officers and spiraling cost of fuel which has put the industry in a bad shape.

Says V.M.Vinu: “It is a family drama told in a private transport backdrop. My hero Kunjakka is an ordinary man”. The cast also has Nikhita, Mamta, Bhavana, Jayasurya and Indrans.
