Vinodayathra: The Malluwood cinema of 2007 is going to witness some of the rare coming together for creating films. Vinodayathra will present Dileep as the hero in a Sathyan Anthikkad film for the first time. The other highlight of the film will be the cinematography by S Kumar, another first in a Sathyan film. This time also Sathyan is trying to attempt a humor filled soft family story with strong messages.

Vinodayathra: The film tells the story of Vinodh, an M.B.A.holder who is in the lookout for white collar jobs. He has been working in a number of smaller jobs in the past, but couldn't keep them going due to petty reasons of enjoyability. As he is the only son of a retired postmaster who is hailing from a well to do family, he has no urgency for a profession to do and is enjoying his life as a youth. Vinodh has even been to a good job in gulf, but as he cannot withstand the heat in the gulf, he quit the job and remained jobless enjoying his family's fortunes.

Vinodayathra: Vinod’s father, who decided to make him understand the values of life, sends him to stay with his brother -in - law Shaji Raghavan, who is an engineer in irrigation department. Shaji an astute officer and a disciplinarian is living with his wife, Vimala and his sister Resmi. Even though childless they are living a good life, with their small joys and sorrows. And there, with the in-laws, Vinod happens to make a company with Anupama who is the daughter of police constable Vijayan. As her father is bed ridden following an accident that happened amidst a strike, Anupama who is also an engineering student is the person who is looking after the entire family. Her part-time jobs and earnings are the backbone of her grief struck home where she also has a mentally retarded elder sister. The brief acquaintances with Anupama come as relation to Vinod, who never had taken his life too seriously. Anupama's, values and her observations about life, and her maturity in which she treats every incident, changes the mental attitude of Vinod and gradually he destined to change himself.

Vinodayathra: The film is scripted by the director himself. Dileep appear as Vinod while Mukesh is Shaji. Meera Jamine comes up third time in a row in Sathyan film, this time wielding the role of Anupama. The other prominent members in the cast includes Murali, Innocent, Nedumudi Venu, Vijayaragahavan, K.P.A.C Lalitha, Sabitha Anand, Seetha, Resmi Soman and Parvathi.

Vinodayathra: The film has five songs written by Vayalar Sharath and set to music by Ilayaraja. Produced by M.M Hamza in the banner of Kalasangam, the film is distributed by Emil and Eric and is expected to reach the theatres by the seventh of this month, as the first Vishu release.
